Offline and manual payment methods

2 min read

Card payment converts best, and we will get to why. But some guests simply do not pay that way. Corporate bookers whose accounts department insists on a bank transfer. Regulars who have stayed five times and always settle in cash at the door. Whole markets where paying on arrival is still the norm. Stayblox keeps those bookings honest too.

Create the methods you actually use

In Settings, on the Payments page, you can create manual payment methods such as bank transfer or pay on arrival. Name them the way you would say them to a guest, because that name is how you will recognise them later. Only add methods you genuinely accept. A list of six options you half-support just invites confusion.

Record the money when it lands

A manual payment does not confirm itself, so the recording is on you. When a transfer arrives or a guest hands over cash, record the payment against the booking. The paid and due amounts update straight away, and the booking tells the truth about what is still owed. Do it the same day the money arrives. Sixty seconds now beats reconstructing events from bank statements in October.

Why card should stay your default

An online card payment confirms the booking in the moment the guest decides. A bank transfer opens a gap of a day or three, and gaps are where guests cool off, find somewhere cheaper or simply forget. Every hour a booking sits unpaid is an hour it can quietly die. So keep manual methods for the guests who truly need them, and let everyone else pay by card at the moment of booking.

The goal is not offline versus online. It is that every booking, however it was paid, shows the same honest numbers when you look at it.
