Get to know your calendar
2 min read
The calendar is where your business actually lives. Bookings from every source land there: direct bookings from your website, reservations from connected channels, and anything you add by hand. If it is not on the calendar, as far as Stayblox is concerned it does not exist, which is exactly why the calendar has to be the first thing you trust and the first thing you check.
Two views, one truth
Each property has its own Calendar view, showing its units and their bookings day by day. If you run more than one property, the Multi Calendar puts them all side by side, so a quiet week at one place next to a full week at another is visible without switching screens.
Read the statuses, not just the colours
A booking on the calendar is in one of a few states. Confirmed means the stay is locked in. Pending means a booking exists but is not confirmed yet, so treat the dates as spoken for until it resolves. Cancelled bookings free their dates again. Blocked dates are ones you have closed off yourself, for maintenance, a family visit or a booking that lives somewhere else.
Glance at pending bookings daily. One that sits pending for days is either a guest who needs a nudge or dates you could be selling.
Block dates the moment something is taken
The five minutes between agreeing a booking on the phone and opening the laptop is where double bookings are born. The moment any date is taken, for any reason, block it or record the booking. A blocked date you release later costs you nothing. An open date that was actually taken costs you an apology, a refund and a review.
Make it a morning habit
Read the calendar every morning the way you check the weather. Who arrives today, who leaves, what came in overnight from the channels. Two minutes with your coffee, and the day stops surprising you. Hosts who live in their inbox get surprised. Hosts who live in their calendar do not.
