Connect a custom domain
2 min read
A custom domain makes your site yours: easier to remember, easier to print on a business card, and independent of any platform. Connecting one is available on the Growth and Pro plans.
Buy the domain, if you have not already
Any registrar works. If you are choosing a name, shorter beats cleverer, and the name guests already know your property by beats both.
One thing to know: the domain stays yours, registered in your name at your registrar. Stayblox connects to it, it never owns it. If you ever leave, the domain and its search history go with you.
Point it at Stayblox
Open the domain settings in your Stayblox dashboard and follow the DNS instructions shown there for your domain. You make the change in your registrar's control panel, and it is a copy-paste job rather than a technical one.
DNS changes are not instant. They usually go through within an hour, but can take up to a day or two depending on the registrar. Your Stayblox subdomain keeps working the whole time, so nothing goes offline while you wait.
HTTPS is handled
Once the domain is connected, the security certificate is issued and renewed automatically. The padlock in the browser, which guests rightly look for before paying online, is there without you doing anything.
After it connects
Do a quick lap: open the site on the new domain, run a test booking, and update the website link on your OTA profiles, your Google Business Profile and your social accounts so everything points at the address you own.
