Extranet

An extranet is the back-office dashboard an OTA gives you to manage your listing, the Booking.com extranet being the best-known example. It is where you edit content, load rates and availability, and handle reservations for that one platform.

The pain starts when you sell on several channels, because every extranet wants the same updates entered separately. That is the job a channel manager removes: rates, availability and restrictions go out to every OTA from one screen, and the extranets become something you rarely need to open.
